Uncertainty is the norm. And yet, we often treat our meetings as these places where we can control what happens. We know that meetings are a key place where miscommunication, stress from uncertainty, and disengagement often happen. Meetings have SO much potential! They can align us, build community, be a space to pivot or shift together, and embrace uncertainty.
We also know meeting facilitation is a necessary skill for our cooperative leaders. Democracy is not only practiced in decision-making, but it must also be embedded in our meeting practices. This will help us to tap into the wisdom of our team members and reveal what’s needed to move forward given any crisis. In this workshop, we’ll present and facilitate activities to understand the tool: Tension-driven meetings. Tension-driven meetings allow us to stay nimble, listen to our team members, give input, and be highly relevant to what’s needed in this moment.
